About Me

This is the site for me, Matthew Barnhart, recording/live sound/mastering engineer and tour manager based in the home of happiness, Denton, Texas USA. I do a lot of things, some of which you might find interesting:

  • I co-own and make records at The Echo Lab in Argyle, Texas. Will record bands for cheap, just ask. (A partial discography is up now.)
  • I have mastered a number of records people with budgets too tight for the esteemed John Golden and the like. I am cheap!
  • I run live sound for The New Year, a band on Touch and Go Records, featuring members of Bedhead, Come, Codeine, Saturnine, Legendary Crystal Chandelier, Macha, and God knows who else. I’ve also run sound for The Baptist Generals, Spoon, St. Vincent, John Vanderslice, Centro-matic/South San Gabriel, Silkworm, Shearwater, and Midlake, among others.
  • I’m also available for live sound/tour management jobs on a freelance basis, especially if we’re going to Italy or Spain.
  • I currently play in the band Tre Orsi with my friends Howard Draper and Bryan VanDivier. We have a 7″ out now with more stuff on the way.
  • I used to play in the band Little Grizzly. We released three full-length records and toured a bit in the US before breaking up 1 May 2004.
  • I play with the band BLACKSMITHS, who have a loose interpretation of “productivity”.
  • I am married to poet/librarian/punk, Katey Margolis.
